Redstar Gold Corp. (RGC-TSXV) ("Redstar") has now received results for all four of its diamond drill holes completed on the Newman Todd project in Red Lake, Ontario. The Newman Todd project is underlain by similar geology to the Red Lake Mine (Goldcorp) and the Campbell Mine (Placer Dome). Redstar is earning a 100% interest in the project from AngloGold Ashanti (USA) Exploration Ltd.
All four holes drilled by Redstar intersected wide zones of breccia with anomalous to high-grade gold mineralization. Results from the first three holes were released October 26 and were highlighted by 3.05 feet grading 2.0 opt gold (69.02 g/t over 1.0 meters) within a 9.14 foot zone grading 0.73 opt gold (24.89 g/t over 3.0 meters) (hole NT-031). The fourth hole, NT-032, was drilled 75 meters south of NT-031 and confirmed the presence of wide spread gold mineralization associated with breccia zones. This hole bottomed in 25 meters of breccia with highly anomalous gold values but stopped short of the main structure intersected in hole NT-031. NT- 031 intersected 117 meters of breccia with highly anomalous gold values (identical to the breccia intersected in NT- 32) before intersecting the one meter section of 69.02 g/t gold at a vertical depth of 180 meters. NT-032 was only drilled to a vertical depth of 115 meters. Redstar's technical team believes if this hole was extended it would intersect the high-grade zone from hole NT-031.
The four holes completed by Redstar partially outline a large, near surface alteration and breccia zone that hosts multiple, parallel, north-south trending, gold bearing structures. This is similar to the Goldcorp mine where multiple, steep dipping, parallel structures are currently being mined to a depth of over 2000 meters. The high-grade intercepts within the Newman Todd breccia zone remain open along strike and at depth. "The scale of alteration, style of mineralization and presence of extremely high gold grades indicate the huge potential of the Newman Todd project. Redstar has drilled only four holes into a zone where previous drilling, geochemistry and detailed geophysics indicate it extends for over 1.5 kilometers. Redstar has just begun to scratch the surface of this large, gold bearing, breccia system in a camp where historically the best grades have been intercepted at depth." comments Scott Weekes, president of Redstar.
Historic drilling (from the 1980's), over 850 meters northeast of hole NT-031 intersected gold values up to 37.7 g/t gold over 1.4 meters (within a 3 meter section averaging 26.7 g/t gold) within a breccia zone at a vertical depth of less than 60 meters. Based on Redstar's new structural interpretation of the area, which was successfully confirmed with hole NT-031, this intercept remains open in all directions.
With only four holes completed Redstar has demonstrated the huge potential of the Newman Todd property with the deepest hole drilled intersecting the highest grades on the property to date. The new drilling is also instrumental in reinterpreting the historic drilling which often intersected wide breccia zones with only sporadic sampling. All Redstar's holes, and many historic holes, ended in mineralized breccia. A phase 2 diamond drilling program is planned to follow up the high-grade sections intersected in drilling and to continue to explore the extensive breccia zones on the Newman Todd property.
Accurassay Laboratories of Thunder Bay Ontario has completed all of Redstar's analytical work on the project. A quality control program, using specific standards, duplicates and blank samples was utilized. Mr. Robert Darney, P. Geo is the qualified person who has reviewed this release.
