Redstar Gold Corp. (RGC-TSXV) ("Redstar") is pleased to announce the initial results from three of four diamond drilling holes completed on the Newman Todd property in Red Lake Ontario. Highlights from the results include a 3.05 feet intersection grading 2.0 opt gold within a 9.14 foot zone grading 0.73 opt gold. Redstar is earning a 100% interest in the Newman Todd property from AngloGold Ashanti (USA) Exploration Ltd.
The four holes completed by Redstar were designed to test a new structural interpretation of the area based on structural mapping, detailed geophysics and published data from Goldcorp's Red Lake mine. All holes intersected multiple zones of silicified breccia with up to 20% sulphides and wide spread iron carbonate alteration. Results obtained to date show anomalous gold mineralization associated with the silicified breccia zones. This indicates the presence of multiple, parallel gold bearing structures on the Newman Todd property.
The third hole completed (NT-031) was the deepest of the first three holes and returned the highest grades; 3.05 feet grading 2.0 opt gold (69.02 g/t over 1.0 meters) within a 9.14 foot zone grading 0.73 opt gold (24.89 g/t over 3.0 meters). This intercept is within 180 meters of surface. An upper zone in NT-031 averaged 0.25 opt gold over 3.05 feet (8.73 g/t over 1.0 meters) and confirms the presence of multiple zones.
The new structural interpretation of the area suggests the highest grades intersected in the previous drilling (27.18 g/t over 1.0 meters) can be correlated with the high grade intercept in NT-031, drilled 50 meters to the north. This zone is open in all directions and can easily be accessed for drilling year round.
The fourth hole, NT-032, was drilled 75 meters south of hole NT-031. Results are expected within the next ten days. Metallic screened analyses are being completed on all assays greater than 1 g/t gold and should be received with the next two weeks.
Scott Weekes, president of Redstar, states: "Redstar is extremely pleased with the initial results from our Newman Todd drilling. Our technical team identified the potential for near surface high grade gold mineralization on the property and these results confirm their beliefs. Our best intercept is the best and deepest intercept on the property to date and is still only 180 meters below surface. This high grade zone is open in all directions and can easily be drilled in the winter. Two additional high priority targets have been identified by our technical team making the Newman Todd project the focus of our work in Red Lake."
A table with all results and a drill plan map will be available on the company's web site
Accurassay Laboratories of Thunder Bay Ontario has completed all of Redstar's analytical work on the project. A quality control program, using specific standards, duplicates and blank samples was utilized. Mr. Robert Darney, P. Geo is the qualified person who has reviewed this release.
