The Rising Sun prospect is located 300m east of the Apollo open stope mine and is a splay off the main Apollo structure consisting of a 25m wide outcrop of multi-generational veins, vein breccias, and stockworks identical in geology and sub-parallel to the Apollo vein system. Narrow 1.5 – 6.2m wide, crustiform-cockade textured vein breccias are bordered by selvages of silicified, quartz-sericite-pyrite altered rocks within propylitic altered basalt, andesite and hyaloclastite flows.
In 2017, Redstar drilled two holes at Rising Sun, both of which penetrated Shumagin-style quartz-adularia-carbonate breccias and stockworks approximately 20m down hole that are considered to be identical to those previously sampled in and around the Sitka prospect:
Drill hole 17RS01 intersected 1.0m containing 0.06g/t Au + 17.3 g/t Ag
Drill hole 17RS02 returned values up to 0.29g/t Au + 18.1g/t Ag over 1.4 meters.
